    1. I've given this a B at AAR, so 4 stars.Georgie Lee continues her Business of Marriage series with The Secret Marriage Pact, a friends-to-lovers story which reunites two childhood friends after almost a decade apart.  Jane Rathbone and Jasper Charton were almost inseparable as children, but the nine years Jasper has spent in America have changed him and he has returned home a troubled man, weighed down by guilt he is unable to shake off and secrets he is unable to share. We first met Jane as a te [...]

    2. This is the first book by Georgie Lee and I completely adored it, I can honestly say I will be collecting more of her books, this book had me captivated by the end of the first scene. Utterly adore it thank you for writing it Georgie xxx

    3. The Secret Marriage Pact is the fourth book in the Business of Marriage series by Georgie Lee. This book can be read and enjoyed easily as a stand alone one.Jane Rathbone outwardly is a very capable woman. What she keeps hidden though is her deep feelings of abandonment and guilt. Her parents died when she was young, and she blames themselves for her death. Later she pledged her love to a man before he was sent off to America, only to be told that she shouldn't wait for him because they are only [...]

    4. I must damit that even though I was really looking forward to reading this book, in the end I was looking more than once how many more pages there were still left to ead and when it would finally end. Don't get me wrong - I loved Jasper and Jane and on the whole it was a really nice story but in the end I was a bit annoyed every time someone mentioned feeling guilty or anything that sounded even remotely like that. Jane's stubbornness, her loyalty, her love for Jasper and of course, her sense of [...]

    5. Another great read in Georgie Lee's The Business of Marriage series. I really enjoy this series because it doesn't focus on nobility, but on the middle class instead. I've three out of the four books so far, and I plan to go back and read the one I've missed at some point. Although this is a standalone, I would recommend reading the first book, A Debt Paid in Marriage, for Jane's brother's story as I think knowing some of Jane and Phillip's history does add to this book.Jane Rathbourne is fast a [...]

    6. I have enjoyed all Georgie Lee's books and “The Secret Marriage Pact” was no exception. From the start, I enjoyed the interchange between Jane and Jasper. I particularly liked that they were unashamedly of the merchant class, not reaching out to become part of the ton, although they were rich enough for begrudging acceptance of those upper echelons.I also liked the feeling of frustration that came across because Jane could not manage her own affairs. For a woman with a brain, that must have [...]

    7. There were times where I wanted to smack Jasper right upside his head. For a guy who is morally opposed to gambling, and thinks it is corrupting his soul, but insists that he has to run a gambling hell to make sure that he never leaves anyone he cares about poor, he sure has a habit of buying his wife expensive jewelry. Like, how many weeks of profits from your gambling hell did you spend on that diamond necklace and matching earrings, Jasper? Maybe you could have saved that money as a cushion f [...]

    8. I love that you get to know Jane pretty well throughout this book, I would best describe her as strong willed but also a loyal person who is determined to gain as much independence as she can. With these personality traits I instantly liked her especially as her life hasn't been a bed of roses. The fact that Jane and Jasper are pretty much life long friends was a brilliant way of showing their relationship as they already know one another. Even though some time had passed since they last saw eac [...]

Besides, I got a little taste of you the other day and I liked what I sampled. The Characters in the book are:Jane RathboneJasper CharltonMilton CharltonPhilip Rathbone (Jane's brother)Jane Rathbone, Jasper Charlton and his brother Milton Charlton Have known each since they were children and was often getting up to mischief and Jas [...]

    10. An unusual story. The heroine wants independence and is good at business but due to the times they live in, alas no girl power she is unable to do this and on top of that she has an embarrassing broken romance. The hero returns, he knew the heroine in childhood and they each have something to offer each other. His business is not acceptable in all circles, she could use his help.
